When it comes to working, sometimes you need to pull an all-nighter. Sometimes there is just no way around it because of that looming deadline hovering over you. Then again, if you are anything like me, you would rather work at night when it is quieter. My husband and my two dogs are sleeping at night so I take advantage of this and work at night as much as possible. Here are my top 5 ways to stay up all night.
#1 Drink plenty of Caffeine
There are a couple of ways to drink caffeine to keep you awake. You can do what I do and either drink energy drinks or coffee. I drink a couple of energy drinks in the evening because they keep me awake for a good while. When I run out of them, I only drink two; I make a pot of coffee. This will definitely keep you awake for a good while at night.
#2 Eat sugary foods
Although too much sugar isn’t good for you, sometimes you have to eat them in the evening time and late at night to get that sugar buzz that keeps you awake. You don’t have to eat a lot of them; just enough that you know it will keep you awake for a while. Cookies, donuts, cake, or anything else you can eat in the evening and late at night to get the pick-you-up from the sugar.
#3 Take a long nap a few hours before your all-nighter
Taking a long nap in the evening, just about two to three hours should do it, will help prepare you for staying up all night. Make yourself tired any way that you can to go to sleep for a few hours. When you wake up, you will feel refreshed and ready to go!
#4 Listen to upbeat music
Listening to the kind of music that makes you want to dance will make you want to stay up for a while at night too. You can get up and dance too if you want to! I use Spotify and put my headphones on so the music doesn’t wake up the dogs and my husband. I made my own playlist called, “My Work Music” and I listen to it when I need something else to help keep me awake. It has all good music on it that has a great beat to it that pumps you up enough to want to stay awake all night.
#5 Take a power nap
No, this isn’t the same as number three, take a long nap. Power naps are short and are used to refresh you for a few more hours. If you find you are getting tired in the middle of the night and need something to help keep you awake, try a power nap. Set your alarm for 15 minutes or a half hour and set up as soon as the alarm goes off. Actually, as soon as the alarm goes off, you should stand up and walk around so you won’t be tempted to fall back to sleep. Power naps do work, trust me, I have used them before. You will wake up feeling ready to get going again!
